August 24, 1938 - August 22, 2017
The world lost a genuine human being on August 22, 2017. Parviz Shafa, a scholar, university professor and a dedicated father and brother left our unfair world after a long battle with some health issues. He thought at the School of Dramatic Arts in Tehran, and later became the head of the same college. He wrote and translated numerous articles in various publications, and several books including: Viva Mexico, Cinema of the Time, A Chapter in Cinema, Guerrilla Cinema, Colonialism and Anti-Colonialism In Cinema, Cinema: A Theoretical Instrument, Cinema in Africa, Fascism in Cinema, Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, War is a force that gives us meaning, Oliver Stone's America.....He thought a generation of young and talented filmmakers living and working around the world. He will be missed forever.
